This is also the unit with the highest cancellation rate in the industry with 174 cancellations, an increase of 0.7 points compared to the previous quarter.

Sự phát triển nóng của ngành hàng không đã khiến việc đầu tư phát triển cơ sở hạ tầng sân bay không theo kịp.
The rapid growth of the aviation industry has caused investment in airport infrastructure development to not keep up.

Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air both have significant improvements.

Specifically, Vietnam Airlines had 2,187 delayed flights out of a total of 25,494 flights, reaching a rate of 8.6%, down 6.2 points compared to the previous quarter.

Vietjet Air had 2,337 delayed flights, accounting for 12.3% of the total 19,015 flights operated in the first quarter of 2017, down 1.9 points compared to the previous quarter.

During this peak period, Vietjet Air only had a total of 5 flights canceled, while Vietnam Airlines had 98 flights canceled.

Regarding the airline with the fewest flights - VASCO, in the first quarter, this airline operated 2,200 flights, 156 of which were delayed, and 60 were canceled. In the whole quarter, VASCO's flight delay rate increased by 7.1% and flight cancellation rate increased by 2.1% compared to the previous quarter.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the main causes of flight delays are mainly due to airline technology, airport equipment, weather problems, late aircraft arrival; flight management and operations...

Vietnam’s aviation sector has been growing at double-digit rates for many years. The rapid development of the aviation industry has made it impossible for investment in airport infrastructure development to keep up.

During the 7 peak days of the Lunar New Year 2017 alone, the total volume of passengers and cargo through Vietnamese airports reached 12,200 take-offs and landings, up 12.2%; more than 1.76 million passengers, up 21.3%; 10,700 tons of cargo, up 28.5% compared to the same period of the Lunar New Year 2016.

Tan Son Nhat Airport alone received 2,493 departures and 2,472 arrivals, averaging 710 departures/arrivals per day with two taxiways; throughput reached 717,000 passengers, up 16.2% over the same period last year, and 3,700 tons of cargo, up 52% over the same period last year.

This overload is one of the main causes of air traffic congestion both in the air and on the ground.
