Jetstar ranked first in flight delays and cancellations in January 2018
In January 2018, the rate of delayed and canceled flights of 4 Vietnamese airlines accounted for 11.1%, equivalent to 2,665 flights, of which Jetstar Pacific's rate was the highest, 14.8%.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in January 2018, 4 Vietnamese airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific and Vasco operated a total of 24,094 flights; of which 21,429 were on-time, accounting for 88.9%. Thus, the rate of delayed and canceled flights still accounted for 11.1%, equivalent to 2,665 flights.
According to the assessment, the above on-time take-off rate is quite high compared to the world aviation standards, demonstrating the efforts of airlines in improving the situation of flight delays and cancellations in recent times, especially during the New Year service period and before the Lunar New Year.

During this period, Vietnam Airlines operated a total of 10,681 flights; of which 9,657 were on-time, accounting for 90.4%. The number of delayed and canceled flights was 1,024, accounting for 9.6%.
Vietjet Air operated a total of 9,271 flights; of which 1,180 flights were delayed or canceled, accounting for 12.7%. Jetstar Pacific had 440 delayed or canceled flights out of a total of 2,976 flights that the airline operated in January, accounting for 14.8%.
For Vasco Airlines, in January 2018, the airline operated 1,166 flights, of which 1,145 flights took off on time, the rate of delays and cancellations was only 1.8%, equivalent to 21 flights.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the main reason for the decrease in on-time performance is due to late arrival of aircraft; of which 1,683 flights were late, accounting for 63.2% of the group of causes of late take-offs of airlines.
The next cause comes from the airlines themselves, accounting for 20.3% of the group of causes of untimely takeoffs by airlines. Along with that, weather is identified as the main factor leading to many flight cancellations, accounting for 32.6% of the group of causes of flight cancellations by airlines.
