JICA Vietnam inspects the quality of Dien Thanh drainage project
(Baonghean.vn) - Dien Thanh drainage culvert plays a very important role in preventing salinity, ensuring irrigation, and providing clean water for production and daily life, affirmed Mr. Tetsuo KONAKA, Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office, when inspecting the quality of this project.
Within the framework of the sideline activities of the Conference “Meeting Vietnam - Japan: Cooperation and Development”, on the afternoon of April 26, the working delegation of the Japanese organization JICA led by Mr. Tetsuo KONAKA, Chief Representative of the JICA Vietnam Office - Japan International Cooperation Agency, inspected the progress and quality of the Dien Thanh drainage project (Dien Chau). Accompanying the delegation, on the side of Nghe An province was comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Dien Thanh drainage culvert (new construction) is a main project in the project to restore and upgrade the Northern Nghe An irrigation system, implemented from Japanese ODA loan (JICA). The drainage culvert is located on Dien Thanh canal in the territory of two communes, Dien Thanh and Dien Ngoc, Dien Chau district.

The sluice gate has the task of ensuring drainage for the Bung River basin with an area of 332.13 km2; preventing salinity, keeping fresh water to create a source of irrigation water for 15,000 hectares of the upstream area in the two districts of Dien Chau and Yen Thanh; preventing salinity, creating conditions for intensive farming of about 26,500 hectares affected by salinity, ensuring waterway traffic through the sluice gate.
The project was completed on schedule in January 2019 and has been put into use.

Inspecting the construction site, Mr. Tetsuo KONAKA, Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office - Japan International Cooperation Agency, said: The project to restore and upgrade the Northern Nghe An Irrigation System is on schedule, expected to be completed in 2021, especially the Dien Thanh drainage project, completed with guaranteed quality and put into use in early 2019, has had a great effect in preventing salinity and preserving freshwater.
He expressed his belief that when the entire project is completed, it will provide practical support for Nghe An in ensuring irrigation and providing clean water for production and daily life in the area.
