A video of a Russian Ka-52 helicopter accidentally firing a missile and destroying a car on the ground has just appeared online. The Russian Ministry of Defense has now denied that this accident took place during the Zapad 2017 exercise.
The video shows two Ka-52s flying close to the ground when one suddenly launches a missile at a car. At least one person was standing nearby when the missile exploded.
Social networks have been spreading rumors that this accident happened during the large-scale Zapad 2017 exercise, however, the Russian Ministry of Defense has denied this.

“All the information on social networks about a missile being launched at a crowd of journalists and causing many deaths is false. This is an aggressive and provocative act by some idiot,” Russia’s Western Military District said in a statement, without specifying the time and location of the incident.
Zapad 2017 is a large-scale joint military exercise between Russia and Belarus, mobilizing nearly 13,000 soldiers and taking place from September 13 to 21. On September 18, President Putin personally inspected this exercise.
