Ka-52 mistakenly launched a missile, causing many deaths at Zapad 2017?

A video of a Russian Ka-52 helicopter accidentally launching a missile and destroying a car on the ground has just appeared online. The Russian Defense Ministry has denied that this accident took place during the Zapad 2017 exercise.

The video shows two Ka-52s flying close to the ground when one suddenly launches a missile at a car. At least one person was standing nearby when the missile exploded.

Social networks have been spreading rumors that this accident happened during the large-scale Zapad 2017 exercise, however, the Russian Ministry of Defense has denied this.

The Ka-52 helicopter may have caused many casualties.

“All the information on social media about a missile being launched at a crowd of journalists and causing many deaths is false. This is an aggressive and provocative act by some idiot,” Russia’s Western Military District said in a statement, without specifying when and where the incident took place.

Zapad 2017 is a large-scale joint military exercise between Russia and Belarus, mobilizing nearly 13,000 soldiers and taking place from September 13 to 21. On September 18, President Putin personally inspected this exercise.
