Man holding plastic gun robbed more than 500 million VND from Agribank was arrested
After robbing the money, Nam stayed at home and claimed he owed money due to gambling losses so he chose the bank to do it.
On June 2, Phu Tho Provincial Police said that at 11:30 p.m. on June 1, suspect Nguyen Thanh Nam (34 years old, from Phu Ninh district) was arrested on charges of causing a robbery of 500 million VND at an Agribank transaction office in Thanh Ba district.
Nam claimed to have a lot of debt due to losing the lottery, so he planned to rob a bank. Before committing the crime, Nam borrowed a motorbike from a distant relative to use, put on a fake license plate, and planned an escape route.

After several hours of surveillance, at around 10:30 a.m. on May 31, Nam, wearing a raincoat, mask, helmet, and holding a knife and a plastic gun, stormed into the Agribank transaction office located in Thanh Ha commune, Thanh Ba district. He controlled the staff and demanded that all the money being counted be put into a bag.
After getting the pile of money with 527 million VND, Nam got on a motorbike and escaped towards Highway 2D.
Authorities have now recovered over 400 million VND. Agribank said the deposits were insured so the robbery did not affect the interests of customers.
