US Plan B in Syria 'legitimizes' IS?

(Baonghean.vn) - As the US and Russia continue negotiations on the Syria issue, Sputnik's Loud & Clear radio channel had an interview with Massoud Shadjareh - founder of the Islamic Human Rights Committee to discuss Washington's real goals in the war-torn country.

“When you look at the interests of Saudi Arabia, which is pouring billions of dollars into this conflict, and Turkey, they do not want peace and stability in that region. They have been committed from the beginning to regime change,” Shadjareh said.

The US and its allies remain committed to the goal of fighting violent religious extremists such as the Islamic State (IS) in Syria. However, Western powers have not accepted a clear solution to the problem, insisting that the most important thing is to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

“The Syrian government must be part of the solution. Without their participation, there can be no solution, everyone knows that,” Shadjareh asserted.

According to Sputnik, the US is still struggling to develop an effective strategy in the region, and is considering a mysterious Plan B that could further expand the scale of the conflict.

“The parties are saying that Plan B is to divide Syria and Iraq along ethnic lines. That will actually create more serious problems in the long term, creating hostile buffer zones, continuing the situation of prolonged war,” said founder Shadjareh.

In fact, such a separation would inadvertently make IS a de facto power. Shadjareh hypothesizes: “This would legitimize the creation of an IS-style territory in both countries, and that is what Saudi Arabia and its allies are pushing for. This is really the problem with US involvement in the Middle East. Regardless of which country they are actually involved in, they have created bigger disasters than before.”

According to him, trying to seek democracy through bombs and bullets, and supporting rebel organizations will never be effective. Anyone can create such a situation, but to "clean up" it is a completely different story.
