Plan for commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory

On the afternoon of April 10th, at the International Conference Center (Ba Dinh, Hanoi), the Organizing Committee for the 60th Anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory held a press conference to introduce the activities commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.

The National Organizing Committee for the Anniversary Celebration, established by the Prime Minister, will be chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee, the Deputy Minister of National Defense, and the Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department will serve as Vice-Chairmen of the Organizing Committee.

The main event of this year's commemoration will be a rally, parade, and march on May 7th at the provincial stadium and along the main streets of Dien Bien Phu city. Approximately 15,000 people will participate, including the army, police, guerrillas, militia, and representatives from various sectors: veterans, workers, farmers, intellectuals, women, youth, children, and especially the people of the ethnic groups from the six provinces of the Northwest region, a force that made a significant contribution to the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu.

On the morning of May 7th, Party and State leaders and delegates attending the commemoration ceremony will offer incense at the A1 Martyrs' Cemetery to remember the fallen heroes.

Besides that, there are many other meaningful activities focused on Dien Bien during the anniversary period, such as: the naming ceremony of Vo Nguyen Giap Street and 7/5 Square in Dien Bien Phu city; the traditional "Returning to Dien Bien Phu" cycling race organized by the People's Army Newspaper; the organization of a film week commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory from April 23-27 in many communes of Dien Bien province; the inauguration of phase 1 of the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum, displaying and introducing valuable artifacts, documents, and materials about the Dien Bien Phu campaign donated by the people and international friends...

The 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory also serves as a driving force for Dien Bien province in particular, and the Northwest region in general, to develop rapidly and sustainably, in line with the spirit of that "earth-shattering" victory.
