On the morning of April 12, the People's Court of Ha Tinh province opened the first-instance trial of defendant Tran Thi Xuan (residing in Thach Kim commune, Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh) for the act of "Activities to overthrow the people's government".

According to the indictment, since July 2016, through some acquaintances and social networks, Tran Thi Xuan became acquainted with a number of reactionary subjects and was elected Deputy Executive Committee of the Central Democratic Brotherhood Association.
Xuan received 170 million VND from terrorist organizations, reactionaries exiled abroad and extremists in the country.
With the above money, Xuan participated in "community" and "charity" activities, but in reality, he used money and materials from reactionary organizations to attract and connect other subjects in the area to join opposition groups and associations to promote the so-called building of a "democratic" society.
On April 3, 2017, Xuan participated in a large gathering and disturbance at the office of the People's Committee of Loc Ha district. Xuan directly held a microphone, shouted, and incited people to destroy property, causing disorder and seriously affecting the activities of Loc Ha district for many hours.
Tran Thi Xuan was arrested by the Investigation Security Agency (ISA) of Ha Tinh Police on October 17, 2017.
At the trial, defendant Xuan expressed remorse and wished to enjoy leniency from the law.
After reviewing and weighing the circumstances, the Trial Panel sentenced defendant Tran Thi Xuan to 9 years in prison, with an additional penalty of 5 years of house arrest after completing the prison sentence./.
