(Baonghean) - The Vietnamese-language investment promotion website of Nghe An province was established in 2005 and has been regularly updated, revised, and maintained to this day. On June 20, 2011, the Nghe An Provincial E-Government Portal was launched and integrated most of the websites of agencies and units in the province. Since then, the Vietnamese-language investment promotion website of Nghe An province has been integrated into the Nghe An Provincial E-Government Portal and has played a role in promoting and disseminating information about the land, people, investment and business environment of Nghe An to the business community, investors, and friends both domestically and internationally.

Besides promoting and publicizing investment in Vietnamese, as we have done before, the use of foreign languages in this activity is an inevitable trend in the era of economic integration of the whole country in general and Nghe An in particular, which is becoming increasingly deep and broad with the regional and global economies. English will continue to be the global language of communication, especially in international cooperation, investment, and trade. Japan and South Korea, two Asian countries with many similarities to Vietnam, have become comprehensive strategic partners of Vietnam and are the two leading countries in terms of the number of FDI projects as well as the total registered capital in Vietnam.
Nghe An has a long history of relations with Japan through cooperation projects in culture, ODA (many projects, including the $230 million Northern Irrigation System Upgrade Project, the largest ODA in Nghe An's history), FDI (the $1 billion Kobe Steel Project in Dong Hoi Industrial Park; the $8 billion Nghi Son Petrochemical Refinery Project in Nghi Son Economic Zone)... South Korea has supported Nghe An in building the Vietnam-Korea Industrial Technical Vocational College, one of the best vocational schools in the country; and has 12 FDI projects in Nghe An, leading all countries investing in Nghe An in terms of the number of projects.
In particular, recently, Japanese and Korean investors, both in their home countries and neighboring countries such as China and Thailand, as well as those in the northern provinces (Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, etc.) and southern provinces (Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, etc.), have shown increasing interest in investing in the central provinces to take advantage of land and labor resources. Nghe An is one of their top choices. Seizing this opportunity to attract FDI in general, and from Japan and Korea in particular, in a timely and effective manner will fundamentally change the face of investment promotion activities in general and foreign direct investment in particular in our province.
Recognizing the growing need and inevitable trend of using foreign languages in the integration process, the Nghe An Department of Planning and Investment, in coordination with the Departments of Science and Technology and Information and Communications, advised the Provincial People's Committee to build and maintain information pages in English, Japanese, and Korean on investment promotion on the Nghe An electronic portal, which was approved by the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 5183/QD-UBND dated December 20, 2012.
The Department of Planning and Investment has updated and finalized the Vietnamese version; translated it into English, Japanese, and Korean; and established review boards in Vietnamese, English, Japanese, and Korean, comprising members who are experts with qualifications and experience in investment promotion and management; proficient in foreign languages; and who have taught or worked at prestigious universities and have many years of experience working for foreign organizations and businesses to proofread and evaluate the content. The entire content of the website was completed and published in June 2013; and final acceptance was in early July 2013.
On July 3, 2013, the website was officially launched, two months ahead of schedule, contributing to the success of the Korea Investment Promotion Conference in Nghe An, organized by the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee in coordination with the Korean Embassy on July 12, 2013 in Hanoi, with the participation of over 300 Korean businesses and investors. Thus, the development and launch of the investment promotion website in Vietnamese, English, Japanese, and Korean demonstrates the responsiveness of the provincial leadership and state management agencies in promoting and attracting investment.
