Making friends via Zalo, tricking a young girl into going to a motel to take 'hot' photos and blackmail her
A young man lured young women into a motel to take "hot" photos, then forced the victims to give him money in exchange for their silence.
A source from the Kim Son District Police, Ninh Binh Province, said that the unit has just initiated a case and temporarily detained Hoa Van Tham (31 years old, residing in Xuan Thien Commune, Kim Son District, Ninh Binh) for the crime of Extortion.
According to initial investigation information, from around July 2017 until now, Tham has used a Zalo social network account with the fake name Hoang, then made friends with a number of women in Kim Son district and a number of districts in Ninh Binh province.

After seeing that his prey had softened and had some feelings for him, Tham began to find ways to trick the girls into going to motels and using sweet words to take "hot" photos.
After getting his hands on the "hot" photos of Ms. H. (residing in Ninh Binh province), Tham texted and called Ms. H. to threaten her to give him about 7 million VND or else these photos would be posted on social networks and Ms. H.'s family would be informed.
Using the same trick, Tham threatened Ms. T. (residing in Ninh Binh province) to give him 10 million VND in exchange for her silence.
According to police documents, the subject refused to do business, so every time he spent all the money he had scammed, he texted the victims to ask for more money. Therefore, the victims reported to the police for investigation and handling.
After receiving the report, the police started investigating to clarify the matter. On August 10, after a period of monitoring this subject, using many professional measures, the police arrested the subject while he was receiving money from the victim T..
