The end of the drug dealer
After being released from prison, Ly Van Tam earned a living by planting acacia trees for hire. After a while, he used the money he saved to trade drugs.
On April 14, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened the first instance trial of defendant Ly Van Tam (born 1980), residing in Chau Hoan commune, Quy Chau district (Nghe An) for the crime of“Illegal drug trafficking”.
Tam is a defendant with a bad personal history, having been sentenced to 6 months in prison with a suspended sentence for "Gambling" and 8 years and 6 months in prison for "Illegal possession of drugs".
After being released from prison for a while, Tam reoffended. According to the case file, at around 6:00 p.m. on December 13, 2024, Ly Van Tam went to Pu Kep area, Quang Phong commune, Que Phong district to buy drugs to sell for profit. This is a mountainous area where drug addicts often buy and sell drugs with each other.

Tam waited in this area until early the next morning when he met a man (identity and background unknown). The two agreed to buy and sell 8 packages of pink drugs, worth 24 million VND, and 1 package of heroin, worth 6 million VND.
After returning home, Tam divided the heroin into four packages and hid the drugs at his bedside. At noon on December 17, a customer came to his house to buy drugs. However, before Ly Van Tam could sell them, he was arrested by the police.
The investigation agency determined that Ly Van Tam must bear criminal responsibility for the act of buying and selling more than 210 grams of drugs.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime. The defendant stated that after being released from prison, he made a living by growing acacia trees.
The defendant used the money to trade drugs. Tam asked the court to consider reducing his sentence so he could return to his four children soon.
Considering the defendant's behavior as a violation of the law and a danger to society, the People's Court sentenced defendant Ly Van Tam to 20 years in prison for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
