Twinning villages on both sides of the border

(Baonghean.vn) - On April 8, in Tri Le commune, Que Phong district, Nghe An province, a twinning ceremony was held between two Vietnam - Laos border villages, Huoi Moi 2 village, Tri Le commune and Den Din village, Phan Thoong village cluster, Muong Quan district, Hua Phan province (Laos).

The twinning of villages aims to strengthen the long-term, sustainable traditional solidarity and friendship between the people on both sides of the border, together building a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developed Vietnam - Laos border. Through the twinning, we will do a good job of propaganda and mobilizing people to effectively implement the Vietnam - Laos Border Agreement and Regulations; coordinate together to effectively resolve arising incidents related to both sides of the border, support each other, develop the economy - culture - society, build and protect the border, landmarks, and maintain the territorial sovereignty of each side.

At the twinning ceremony, the village chiefs of the two Vietnamese and Lao villages signed a commitment to propagate and mobilize people to protect the original state of the border line, border markers and border belt and area; not to build structures that change the flow of rivers and streams on both sides of the border; strictly comply with regulations on border crossings, not to encroach on cultivation, settlement, causing fires and explosions, or farming within the border belt of each side; not to illegally exploit forests, minerals and resources on both sides of the border; not to participate in harboring or concealing illegal hunters; not to discharge toxic substances that pollute the environment; not to participate in illegal religious propaganda; not to participate in trading or concealing, showing the way to human traffickers and other criminals; not to participate in transporting smuggled goods, illegally transporting and trading in drugs, weapons, explosives, toxic cultural products and other prohibited goods. Each family and individual must be responsible for promptly reporting to the village chief, commune chief, commune and cluster authorities, border guard stations and border police of both sides about any violations of territorial sovereignty and national interests of each country.

Up to now, in Nghe An province, bordering the provinces of Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan and Bolikhamxay of Laos, 13 pairs of villages have been twinned.
