Initial results of the banana export project
(Baonghean) -Although it has only been established in the rice fields for more than 3 years, and has faced many difficulties and challenges, the project of growing and processing bananas for export in Vien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, invested by Globe Farm Korea Co., Ltd. has initially brought practical results, creating stable jobs for hundreds of local workers.
Since the project of growing and processing bananas for export was implemented in the area, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong and nearly 100 farmers in Vien Thanh commune have applied to become workers. With her industrious, hard-working nature, eager to learn and improve technical skills and comply with working hours according to regulations, over the past 3 years, she has had a stable job, with an average income of more than 3 million VND/month, contributing significantly to improving the family economy and taking care of her children's education. Ms. Huong said: Working at the banana export company is also easy, not too hard, women have stable jobs, working 8 hours a day, in addition to salary, the company has a reward system, paying full insurance for workers. Women are very secure in their work.
Vien Thanh is a commune in a difficult area of Yen Thanh district, with a large area of planting crops but the soil is poor in nutrients, infertile, ineffective, and the crop yield is low. Therefore, when an investor chose to implement a banana export project, the People's Committee of the commune and district created all conditions in terms of land and space for the investor to implement the project conveniently and quickly.
Globe Farm Korea Co., Ltd. has coordinated to complete land lease contract procedures with households, conduct land reclamation, dig canals, install nurseries, mobilize leveling machines, and import banana tissue from the Philippines for seedling cultivation, and at the same time, receive more than 100 workers who are local farmers to work. After nearly 3 years, on an area of more than 52 hectares, the system of factories, processing plants and green bananas has stretched far and wide, the bunches of bananas full of fruit are carefully cared for and cherished, waiting to be harvested for export. Mr. Dang Quang Hoang - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vien Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh said: Building a factory in the area helps the locality effectively implement the project of creating jobs for farmers, but also changes the mindset, working style as well as the way of thinking and working of people in growing crops to develop the family economy.
Bananas are packed for export.
With the goal of providing seeds and technical support to farmers who have land to grow bananas and moving towards signing cooperation contracts to grow bananas for export, building banana packaging and preservation factories. The banana growing and exporting project with 100% foreign investment located in Vien Thanh commune has been granted an Investment Certificate by the Provincial People's Committee, with a planting scale of 200 hectares, the export output of whole bunches of bananas is 10,000 tons/year, with a total investment of 3 million USD.
Currently, in Vien Thanh, Globe Farm Company has planted a total area of 52 hectares of bananas (equivalent to more than 100,000 seedlings) according to the high-tech application program. In early 2013, bananas have begun to be harvested and the first 3 containers of bananas have been exported to the Korean market, which have been highly appreciated by customers, not to mention the banana output exported to the markets of provinces and cities across the country. Ms. Phan Thi Hong - Manager of Globe Farm Company, said: The company has been interested in the commune and district, created all conditions and has been operating relatively stably. However, the target is 200 hectares, we have only received 52 hectares due to the inadequate traffic system. Therefore, we earnestly request the authorities at all levels to create conditions to build roads, bridges and land for the company to plant and produce according to the project's objectives, ensuring the requirements of customers and meeting the employment needs of local people here.
