Results of the FIFA Awards 2012 categories
In the early hours of January 8th, the International Football Federation (FIFA) officially announced the prestigious individual and team awards of world football for 2012 at the FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala, held in Zurich (Switzerland).
Lionel Messi has officially made history by winning the Ballon d'Or for the fourth consecutive time, surpassing legend Michael Platini, who had previously received this prestigious award three times.
In addition, FIFA also awarded the title of Women's Player of the Year to Abby Wambach of the US women's national team.
In the Best Coach category, the award was given to Vicente del Bosque, coach of the Spanish men's national team, and Pia Sundaghe.
The Puslas Award for the best goal of 2012 unexpectedly went to Miroslav Stoch. The Slovakian player, currently playing for Fenerbahce, beat two strong contenders, Falcao and Neymar.
