On the afternoon of August 26, the trial of defendant Bo Xilai concluded. However, Bo Xilai completely denied the charges related to bribery, corruption, and abuse of power.

The Jinan Intermediate People's Court in Shandong Province, where the case is being handled, announced that it will issue a verdict on a later date.

Defendant Bo Xilai (64), former Party Secretary of Chongqing, former Politburo member of the Communist Party of China, was tried five days earlier for crimes that he denied on the last day of the trial.

In what was believed to be their final statement before the end of the trial, the prosecution requested a harsh sentence for Bo Xilai due to his poor attitude in admitting guilt. Prosecutors stated that Bo Xilai not only denied all his crimes but also denied the documents and testimonies he himself had written.

Meanwhile, Bo Xilai countered that it was his right to tell the truth, and that the prosecution should not consider it a malicious act or a retraction of his testimony.

At the trial, the prosecution representative asserted that the defendant Bac's crimes were "extremely serious, with no grounds for objection to the crimes he committed." The prosecution also requested a "strict and fair" trial from the court.

Defendant Bac refuted everything the prosecution presented. He stated: "The prosecution's conclusions are incomplete. They are merely the prosecution's personal opinions."

During the four days of trial, the prosecution also accused Bo of accepting bribes from Tang Xiaolin, General Manager of Dalian International Development Company, and Xu Ming, Chairman of Dalian Shide Group Co. Ltd., and of embezzling 5 million yuan in a government-managed project.
