South Korean security analyst Kim Dong-yub said Seoul's assessment did not contradict that of the US military, which identified the launches as short-range ballistic missiles. He said North Korea's large-caliber artillery shells blurred the line between artillery systems and ballistic missiles because they generated their own thrust and were guided during launch.

On the same day, the US Pacific Command corrected the latest missile launch of North Korea, stating that two of the three missiles did not crash during flight. Specifically, in the first and third launches, the missiles flew a distance of about 250 km. These assessments are said to be similar to the assessments of the South Korean side when they did not mention the possibility of failure of the missile launch.

Earlier, the US Pacific Command said North Korea had launched three short-range missiles, but the third appeared to have exploded immediately. The US military also confirmed that these launches did not pose a threat to North America or Guam, the US overseas territory in the Pacific.

Meanwhile, South Korea said the missiles were fired from a location near Kittaeryong, Gangwon Province, North Korea, flying about 250 km northeast toward the Sea of Japan. Meanwhile, Tokyo also affirmed that these missiles did not fall into Japanese territory or its exclusive economic zones (EEZ), and did not directly threaten national security.
