The 1-1 draw at Hoa Xuan Stadium between SHB Da Nang and Song Lam Nghe An in round 9 of V.League 2025/26 at 6:00 p.m. on November 1 at Hoa Xuan Stadium left many regrets for Nghe An fans. Despite leading the score and creating a tight game for most of the match, coach Van Sy Son's team could not maintain the advantage, allowing the opponent to equalize in the final seconds of the match.

Entering the match, Song Lam Nghe An took the initiative to play defensive counter-attack. However, in the first half, coach Van Sy Son's team created many opportunities towards Van Bieu's goal (SHB Da Nang). However, the lack of luck of Van Luong and the attacking players of SLNA made SHB Da Nang's goal still stand firm.

On the other side of the front line, the Han River team also showed remarkable efforts. They were loyal to the wing attack style in which at the end of the first half, the home team also created some dangerous opportunities but could not defeat goalkeeper Cao Van Binh.

After the break, SLNA continued to maintain a solid game. Their efforts were finally rewarded in the 81st minute, when center-back Justin Garcia opened the score 1-0 for SLNA. The goal helped the Nghe players' spirit rise, and they were very close to their second victory of the season.

However, the cruel scenario happened in the last minute of extra time. SLNA's defense suddenly lost focus in a set piece, allowing SHB Da Nang's center back Kim Dong-su to comfortably head the ball close to the goal, equalizing 1-1. The final whistle sounded with regret for the entire away team, as they dropped three precious points right on the threshold of victory.

Speaking after the match, midfielder Ho Khac Ngoc, one of the most impressive players on SLNA, could not hide his disappointment: “Scoring the lead against the home team SHB Da Nang but conceding at the last second is a huge regret, not only for me personally but also for the whole team. Just one minute of losing concentration caused us to lose three precious points.”

However, Khac Ngoc said the team will not let this result affect their fighting spirit. He added: “The whole team will try to maintain that spirit until the end of the season, because there are still many opportunities ahead. We understand that to have better results, Song Lam Nghe An needs to improve a lot, especially in their ability to organize and finish. It is a process that takes time, but everyone is determined to do better with each match.”

Since coach Van Sy Son took over the team, Song Lam Nghe An has had positive changes in spirit and playing style. Khac Ngoc commented: “Coach Son has only been working with the team for nearly a month, but the most positive thing is that the team's spirit has been revived. He always encourages us, helping us regain our confidence. As for expertise, SLNA certainly needs more time to adapt and perfect the playing style according to the coaching staff's intentions.”

In this difficult period, the midfielder born in 1992 affirmed that the whole team will continue to maintain a resilient fighting spirit and aim to score points in every match: "Away in the next round against Ninh Binh, our goal is still to score points. Even just 1 point is very valuable in this period."

The draw at Hoa Xuan Stadium, although disappointing, also showed a positive sign of the fighting spirit and cohesion in Song Lam Nghe An's playing style. If they can maintain their current form and improve their finishing, the Nghe An team can fully expect better results in the next rounds of V.League 2025/26.
