Hanoi customers are excited about OCOP products from Western Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Many OCOP products, typical of Western Nghe An such as: Brocade, yellow flower tea, bo giang, even hot chili... are introduced to customers in Hanoi and businesses.

From the afternoon of November 17, at the exhibition space in the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in Hanoi, activities were held to display, introduce and promote OCOP products, typical products of Western Nghe An.

At the exhibition booths, many visitors continuously admired the Ky Son beef jerky, Shan Tuyet tea, sweet eggplant, dried bamboo shoots, purple sticky rice wine, yellow flower tea, sour meat, pickled bamboo shoots, incense, dried banana, pennywort powder, etc.
At the same time, I was impressed with the unique art performances of ethnic groups in Western Nghe An performed by the mass art troupe from Con Cuong district.


Vice Chairman of Con Cuong District People's Committee Vi Van Quy said that this time the district introduced to customers in the capital the products of Solanum procumbens, Gynostemma pentaphyllum, rattan and bamboo weaving, handicrafts, etc. "The program is very meaningful; I hope to introduce and connect with businesses to develop the district's products," Mr. Quy expressed.
In addition to 4 booths displaying OCOP products, typical of 11 districts and towns in Western Nghe An and one booth displaying typical products, OCOP products of Nghe An province, there is also a booth displaying processed wood products and handicrafts of the province.


Mr. Nguyen Tien Lam - Vice President of Nghe An Wood and Non-Timber Forest Products Processing Association said: The Association brings Nghe An's main product lines such as: Bamboo charcoal and bamboo products, handicrafts, finger jointed boards, MDF flooring, biomass pellets. These are Nghe An's strong products that are present in demanding markets such as Europe and Japan.
“In general, this is an opportunity for the province. We have discussed with each other that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has reserved a “playground” within the “ministry yard”, this shows the Ministry’s interest in the development of agriculture and forestry in Nghe An”, Mr. Lam said.

The total population of the region is 1.237 million people (accounting for 36.28% of the total population of the province); of which, ethnic minorities have 410,000 people, accounting for 38.4% of the total population of the Western region, including many ethnic groups living together (such as Thai, Tho, Kho Mu, Mong, Dan Lai, O Du, Kinh...).
This is an area with great potential for developing forest economy with forestry trees serving wood processing, wooden furniture...; short-term and long-term industrial trees such as: sugarcane, tea, rubber..., fruit trees such as oranges, tangerines, grapefruit...

The Western Nghe An region has advantages in developing the production of specialty products and endemic medicinal herbs with many diverse specialties such as: Golden flower tea, Con Cuong orange, Phu Quy orange, Tuong Duong mango, Muong Long plum, Mong chicken, black pig, Khao Cay Noi sticky rice, Mong beef, giang beef, Chinese sausage, wild bamboo shoots, taro, medicinal herbs, precious remedies, brocade products, weaving, Mong knives... Many products have been branded and have geographical indications.
Along with that, Western Nghe An has a lot of potential to develop eco-tourism, mineral industry, medicinal plants, livestock farming (beef, dairy cows, pigs).
Western Nghe An Biosphere Reserve stretches across 9 mountainous districts with the core area being Pu Mat National Park and 2 nature reserves Pu Huong and Pu Hoat, recognized by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve, the largest in Southeast Asia.

Despite achieving many positive results, however, Western Nghe An still faces many difficulties and limitations in socio-economic development.
Therefore, on November 17 and 18, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee organized an event to display, introduce and promote OCOP products, typical products and potentials of Western Nghe An at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
“The purpose is to promote propaganda, advertising, and introduction of typical products, potentials, and advantages of Western Nghe An to seek support from central agencies, ministries, and branches in the strategy to build and promote economic and social development in the Western Nghe An region,” said Ms. Vo Thi Nhung - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An - the standing unit of the event.

Therefore, this event not only displays OCOP products and forestry products of Nghe An but also displays typical cultural, tourism and industrial products with the desire to demonstrate the potential of the Western region of Nghe An, thereby promoting and seeking relationships for development.
Ms. Vo Thi Nhung added: “On the afternoon of November 17, many partners came to visit, learn and propose to cooperate with Nghe An to produce organic agricultural products, grow biomass corn and some other processed products.”



Tomorrow morning (November 18), at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, a seminar on "Strategic orientation for socio-economic development in Western Nghe An" will take place with the participation of leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, along with many ministries, branches, experts, scientists and leaders of Nghe An province.
Western Nghe An has a natural area of 13,728.97 km2, accounting for 83.3% of the province's total area; there are 11 district-level administrative units, with 211 commune-level administrative units, including 27 border communes with 468.281 km of border with the Lao People's Democratic Republic, 5 border gates including: Nam Can International Border Gate (Ky Son), Thanh Thuy National Border Gate (Thanh Chuong), 3 secondary border gates: Thong Thu (Que Phong), Tam Hop (Tuong Duong), Cao Veu (Anh Son); 4 national highways connecting the East-West economic corridor and Ho Chi Minh road, facilitating traffic with Laos, the Northeast region of Thailand and countries in the region.
