International visitors to Vietnam reached a new record in August.
According to data from the General Statistics Office, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in August was estimated at 1.2 million, an increase of 18.5% compared to the previous month and a 35.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
This month has seen the highest number of international visitors ever recorded.

The reason for the sharp increase in international visitors to our country this month is that the tourism industry and travel companies have implemented many effective measures and organized cultural and tourism activities to attract international tourists.
In addition, the policy of extending visa exemptions for citizens of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy has contributed to attracting a large number of visitors from Western European countries.
Overall, in the first eight months of this year, the number of international visitors to Vietnam is estimated at 8.5 million, an increase of 29.7% compared to the same period last year.
Visitors from Asia reached 6.3 million, a 34.8% increase compared to the same period last year. Of these, Chinese tourists accounted for 2.6 million, a 51.4% increase; South Koreans 1.5 million, a 49.3% increase; and Japanese tourists 518,000, a 7.4% increase...
Visitors from Europe are estimated to reach 1.2 million, a 20.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
Visitors from the Americas totaled 565,200, a 10.8% increase compared to the same period last year. Of these, visitors from the United States accounted for 424,600, a 9.8% increase.
Visitors from Australia and Africa also increased compared to the same period in 2016.
