(Baonghean.vn) - 3 subjects have been arrested, 2 subjects are on the run. Police seized 700 kg of crystal meth and 50 loudspeakers. This is the initial result of a project established by Nghe An Police to combat transnational drug trafficking.
On April 18, all the evidence and more than 700 kg of crystal meth were brought to the Nghe An Police Investigation Agency for further classification and appraisal to serve the investigation.
The 4 suspects arrested by the police (3 residing in Vinh City, 1 residing in Nam Dan District) were escorted by the police to the Criminal Investigation Department on the night of April 17 to take statements. This morning, the police searched the suspects' homes.

Colonel Nguyen Manh Hung - Deputy Director of Nghe An Provincial Police said that the units are actively pursuing the fugitive foreigner. This person is a Taiwanese national and is identified as the leader of this drug ring.
The initial success of the VA-319MT project established by Nghe An Provincial Police can be considered the "opening shot" for the peak period of propaganda, attack, and suppression of drug crimes on the Vietnam - Laos border in the three provinces of Thanh Hoa - Nghe An and Ha Tinh starting from April 15, 2019.
According to the assessment of the Ministry of Public Security, the drug crime situation on the Vietnam - Laos border has increased dramatically, becoming more complicated with many sophisticated and increasingly aggressive tricks.

The Drug Crime Investigation Police Department stated that after a period of focusing on fighting drug crimes in the Northwest, the subjects shifted their drug crime activities to the North Central and Central Highlands regions, especially complicated at the borders of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Kon Tum provinces...
Recently, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department and many units and localities have coordinated to fight and destroy a transnational drug trafficking and transportation ring led by a group of Chinese people, directing the transportation of drugs from Myanmar to Thailand via Laos, then transporting them to Vietnam to be sold in Taiwan, China, and the Philippines.
Typically, on April 15, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) coordinated with Ha Tinh Police and Nghe An Police to search and arrest 4 subjects who were illegally buying, selling and transporting drugs at a house in Lane 161, Phung Chi Kien Street, Ha Huy Tap Ward, Vinh City. The police seized nearly 700 kg of crystal meth hidden in 30 loudspeakers.
Two days later, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Police coordinated with Quynh Luu District Police to arrest a group of subjects in a transnational drug trafficking ring. The police arrested 4 subjects, seized 700 kg of crystal meth, and 50 loudspeakers.

It is not yet possible to confirm whether the two groups of subjects in these two drug cases are related to each other or not, but clearly, the methods and tricks of operation are basically the same. These subjects all hide drugs in loudspeakers to camouflage them and then can transport them by water to sell abroad.
These transnational drug trafficking rings are often carried out by foreigners in collusion with some domestic individuals. Nghe An is the point that these individuals choose as a transit point and then take the drugs to a third country for consumption.
