Opening Ceremony of the 5th ASEAN Knowledge Contest

The 5th "ASEAN Knowledge Contest" was attended by 30 young people from 10 teams representing 10 ASEAN member countries.

On the morning of August 3rd, the opening ceremony of the 5th ASEAN Knowledge Contest took place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This is a competition specifically for young people from ASEAN member countries, aiming to enhance the awareness of the bloc among the general public and young people in particular, contributing towards the goal of establishing the ASEAN Community by 2015.



This morning, a live competition took place between 10 teams, revolving around questions about the history of ASEAN's formation, important milestones of the association, ASEAN's current role and development direction, as well as exploring the diverse and rich history, culture, countries, and identities of the people of all 10 ASEAN member states.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Khieu Kanharith, Minister of Information of the Kingdom of Cambodia, emphasized that the competition is a platform to showcase the intelligence and knowledge of outstanding young people in the ASEAN community, the future leaders of the bloc.

Representing Vietnam are three young people from Da Nang City, who won the qualifying round held earlier in the country.

Besides the competitions, during their five days in Phnom Penh, young people from 10 ASEAN countries also participated in activities such as networking, building friendships, sharing and exchanging knowledge about the history and culture of each country, as well as exploring and discovering the beautiful country of Cambodia.
