Opening of the 10th Congress of Delegates of the Nghe An Provincial Literature and Arts Association

On the morning of May 8, the Nghe An Literature and Arts Association opened the 10th Congress of Delegates, term 2018 - 2023.

Attending the congress were Writer Tung Dien - Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations. In the past term, despite many difficulties and challenges, under the leadership of Party committees and authorities at all levels, and the effective coordination of all levels, sectors, localities and members, the Nghe An Literature and Arts Association still achieved many remarkable results and made new developments.

During his tenure, 150 books were published, nearly 300 works of art and art photos were displayed at national and regional exhibitions, hundreds of songs, stage plays, and dances were staged and performed.

The Association also has many authors who have won awards from Central Professional Associations, Vietnam Writers Association, Vietnam Fine Arts Association; 2 members have been awarded the title of People's Artist, 5 members have been awarded the title of Meritorious Artist, 3 members have been awarded the title of Folk Artist; 76 works/groups of works have won the Ho Xuan Huong Literature and Arts Award.

With its role and mission, the Association has also organized 19 creative camps, organized many seminars, workshops, training exchanges, creative campaigns, exhibitions, displays, publications, creative competitions, invested in publishing support and organized product promotion.

Speaking at the opening of the congress, comrade Ho Mau Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports - Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association also frankly pointed out the shortcomings and limitations of the past term such as the lack of many outstanding works worthy of the achievements in the renovation process; theoretical and critical activities are still passive, and the management of literature and arts has not kept up with the development process.

From this reality, the 10th Congress, term 2018 - 2023 will be an important political activity to realize the goal of "Solidarity, democracy, innovation and responsibility".

Thereby, to build the Provincial Literature and Arts Association to become stronger and stronger, worthy of the tradition of Nghe An homeland, a land of thousands of years of culture, mandarin, patriotism, revolution and studiousness.

Speaking at the Congress, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong affirmed: Over the past half decade, the Association of Literature and Arts has been a place where the talents, enthusiasm and intelligence of the province's intellectuals and artists converge. At the same time, it is an important force on the ideological and cultural front, contributing to improving the spiritual and cultural life and spreading aesthetic and literary and artistic values ​​to the people.

He also agreed with the Association's assessments of the limitations and shortcomings and hoped that at this congress, the province's artists and writers must truly unite, frankly acknowledge and evaluate the actual results of their activities to determine the direction and tasks of building the association and developing the literary and artistic career in the coming term.

In order for the Association to truly develop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong also requested the Association and its members to thoroughly grasp the Party's viewpoints and guidelines on culture, literature and art in the new period, as well as the strategy for building Vietnamese culture and people to meet the country's sustainable development requirements. Along with that, the team of artists needs to continue to make efforts, promote creativity, enthusiasm, delve into the reality of life to create, so that each of their works truly and deeply reflects life and people, arousing in the public national pride, love for the homeland and country.
