(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of June 16th, officials and residents of Hong Son ward (Vinh City) solemnly held the opening ceremony of the 7th Sports Festival.

This was the largest mass sports event in the ward in 2013 and was part of a series of activities celebrating the 225th anniversary of Phuong Hoang - Trung Do Vinh, the 50th anniversary of the founding of Vinh City, and the 10th anniversary of Vinh becoming a Class 1 urban area…
Leaders of the Party Committee and People's Committee of the ward presented flowers and commemorative flags to the 12 teams of athletes from the 12 residential blocks.
The Games attracted over 300 athletes from 12 neighborhoods; the athletes competed in 8 sports including: volleyball, tug-of-war, stick pushing, athletics, badminton, cross-country running, table tennis, and chess.
The opening ceremony featured a parade of 22 contingents; at the ceremony, the Organizing Committee read President Ho Chi Minh's call for physical exercise and launched a campaign to respond to his call; delegates and attendees witnessed two synchronized gymnastics and martial arts performances by the Ward's Senior Citizens Association and the Nhat Nam Martial Arts Club.
