The 2016 Democratic National Convention will take place over four days from July 25-28 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, attracting the participation of 4,765 official and alternate delegates. The convention is expected to officially nominate former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the party's presidential candidate and Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as the party's vice presidential running mate.
According to a press release from the Democratic National Committee, the convention also discussed and approved the 2016 Democratic Party Platform. On the first day of work with the theme "Great Unity", the convention focused on the future of American families, discussing how to work together to build a strong economy that benefits and provides opportunities for all people, not just serving the interests of a particular class.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, First Lady Michelle Obama and prominent immigration activist Astrid Silva delivered powerful speeches on opening night.
On the second working day with the theme “A Timelife of Fighting for Children and Families”, the convention awaited a speech by former US President Bill Clinton and the appearance of representatives of the families of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, two young black men murdered by white police.
With the theme “Work Together”, the third day of the convention welcomed the appearance of US President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
However, the highlight of the 48th Democratic National Convention will be the fourth working day (May 27) when Mrs. Hillary Clinton will give the closing speech of the convention with the theme "Stronger Together" and officially announce her acceptance of the convention's nomination as the presidential candidate of the "donkey party" (the nickname of the Democratic Party), thereby becoming the first female presidential candidate in American history.
The Democratic National Convention took place exactly one week after the Republican Party held its convention in Cleveland, Ohio, where billionaire Donald Trump was officially elected as the party's candidate in the 2016 White House race.
Considered one of the most carefully prepared conventions ever, the 48th Democratic National Convention was overshadowed by the recent disclosure of emails by Wikileaks showing that Democratic Party officials had taken actions against Senator Sanders and favored former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the recent primary election campaign. This information has sparked a wave of protests from Sanders' supporters.
Philadelphia authorities have implemented the strictest security measures during the Democratic convention. More than 4,000 police officers, along with Secret Service agents and National Guard troops, have been deployed to set up security perimeters around the convention center./.
