Opening of football tournament for overseas students celebrating Lao and Thai traditional New Year

(Baonghean.vn) - 18 teams from universities and colleges in Nghe An province will compete in the Lao and Thai student football tournament to celebrate the traditional New Year Bun Pi May and Songkran 2017.

On the evening of March 27, at Vinh University's football field, the opening ceremony of the tournament to celebrate the traditional New Year of Laos and Thailand (from April 13 to 15) took place.

This year's tournament has 18 participating teams (10 men's teams, 8 women's teams), the athletes are international students from universities and colleges in Nghe An province.

The teams are divided into 4 groups (2 groups for men, 2 groups for women), playing a round-robin tournament, with the two teams with the highest points in each group advancing to the semi-finals. The final is scheduled to take place on April 7.

This is a sports activity organized twice a year by Lao and Thai students to celebrate the traditional New Year and National Day. Through this, students can show their solidarity, exchange, learn and share with each other to ease their homesickness while studying away from home./.
