Opening of the 2024 Journey to Lotus Village Marathon
On the night of June 8, the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An coordinated with Vietnamnet Newspaper and the People's Committee of Cua Lo town to open the "Cua Lo - Uncle Ho's Hometown 2024" race, Journey to Sen Village.
Attending the opening ceremony of the race were comrades: Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Sports (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Van Ba - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnamnet Newspaper; Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; along with thousands of athletes and tourists from all over the country present at Binh Minh Square, Cua Lo town.

The 2024 “Journey to Lotus Village” Marathon is a high-quality professional sports tournament, contributing to the movement “All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho” and the movement “Olympic Running Day for the health of all people”.
This year's tournament gathered more than 3,200 athletes from provinces and cities across the country, including 28 international athletes, competing in 4 distances: 42km; 21km; 10km and 5km.
Speaking at the ceremony, journalist Nguyen Van Ba - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnamnet Newspaper shared:

"Nghe An is a land of outstanding people, with beautiful landscapes and cultural characteristics. When runners come to this land, in addition to running to improve their health, they also demonstrate their bravery and perseverance to overcome everything. This is an opportunity to connect with running enthusiasts across the country. On the running routes, athletes can explore historical sites, scenic spots, and typical products of Nghe An" - said Mr. Nguyen Van Ba.

Also at the ceremony, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An province Tran Thi My Hanh said: "The Marathon "Journey to Sen Village" organized this time is a very meaningful cultural, sports and tourism event, part of the series of activities of the Sen Village Festival in 2024."

"We hope that athletes will participate in the tournament with a spirit of solidarity, honesty, showing a noble spirit, creating cultural beauty in sports" - a representative of the Department of Culture and Sports sent a message to runners participating in the tournament.
