Opening of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting
The ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting is one of a series of important meetings taking place in Phnom Penh to prepare for the 20th ASEAN Summit taking place on April 3.
On the morning of April 2, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting opened in Phnom Penh. Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh led the Vietnamese delegation to the meeting.
The ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting is one of a series of important meetings taking place in Phnom Penh today, aiming to prepare the final contents for the 20th ASEAN Summit which will officially take place on April 3.

Specifically, the Foreign Ministers of the 10 ASEAN member countries will discuss and exchange views on regional and international issues and assess the implementation of the ASEAN Charter.
The ASEAN Foreign Ministers will also review and finalize the main contents of the agenda of the 20th ASEAN Summit, the draft Phnom Penh Declaration 2012 with the theme “ASEAN One Community – One Destiny”, the draft Declaration of the ASEAN Leaders on a Drug-Free ASEAN by 2015 expected to be adopted by the ASEAN leaders.
The Foreign Ministers also assessed the progress in the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea between ASEAN and China, and considered Pakistan's request to become a full Dialogue Partner of ASEAN.
Also taking place today are the 7th ASEAN Economic Community Council Meeting, the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Council Meeting, the 7th ASEAN Political-Security Community Council Meeting and several other related conferences./.
