The main contents of the conference aim to build the ASEAN Community from now until December 31, 2015.

On the morning of June 30, the 46th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM 46) officially opened at the Begawan International Convention Center, Brunei.

The conference was attended by 10 Ministers from 10 ASEAN countries. Prince Mahamed Bolkiah - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade - Chairman of AMM 46 chaired the conference.

Speaking at the opening session, Prince Mahamed Bolkia highly appreciated the cooperation of ASEAN countries in the process of building the agenda for the Conference, and expressed ASEAN's determination in realizing the goals set by the region: That is to build a united and unified ASEAN on the basis of the principles and fundamental values ​​of the entire region.

Prince Mahamed Bolkia also emphasized: One of the greatest values ​​of ASEAN today is that it has created a high level of unity and consensus on many important ASEAN issues.

“During my tenure as ASEAN Chair, I have had the opportunity to engage bilaterally with members of the region and I have received a lot of encouragement. One thing that I have seen clearly is that we are united in creating a common region of peace and stability,” said Prince Mahamed Bolkiah.

After the opening session, ASEAN Foreign Ministers held a closed session to discuss regional and global issues. The main contents of this conference are expected to be in line with the implementation of the common goals of the region: The determination to build the ASEAN Community from now until December 31, 2015 for an ASEAN Community that is "economically connected, politically cohesive, and shares social responsibilities", strengthen foreign relations and promote ASEAN's central role in the evolving regional structure as well as the Association's core role in handling important regional issues; promote ASEAN's linkages and connectivity as a driving force to expand connectivity to the East Asia region, including the construction of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

The Ministers will also discuss ASEAN's proactive role in ensuring a peaceful environment in the region; security and stability; further promoting regional political and security tools and forums such as the ARF, EAS, ADMM+, as well as documents such as the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), the Treaty on the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone (SEANWFZ)...; and at the same time effectively responding to traditional and non-traditional security challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, epidemics...

Also in today's discussion session, the Ministers will discuss the situation in the East Sea, North Korea, the smog situation in Indonesia and review the joint documents of ASEAN - AMM 46./.
