Opening of the 14th Conference of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VIII term)

Attending the conference were Comrade Truong Thi Mai - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization. Comrade Tran Thanh Man - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Vice Chairmen co-chaired the conference.

In his opening speech, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man affirmed that in recent times, contributing to the country's achievements, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels has made efforts to innovate the content and methods of operation, closely following political tasks, contributing to strengthening and consolidating the great national unity bloc, actively working with the Party and State to build the Party and government, implementing economic, cultural, social and national defense development goals, and ensuring public order and security..

In addition to the achieved aspects, the Fatherland Front at all levels frankly acknowledged the limitations in the effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization work; not fully listening to and grasping the people's situation; the implementation of the tasks of supervision, social criticism and solving complex problems arising from the grassroots is somewhat limited and passive.

"Those issues need to be addressed with utmost concern in organization and operation in the coming time," comrade Tran Thanh Man stated.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man emphasized that this is a very important conference, creating a premise for implementing the following activities to prepare for the organization of the Congresses of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and the 9th Congress of Delegates of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, as a basis to ensure the quality of activities and work of the entire term of the Front.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong gave an overview of the achievements that Nghe An has achieved in recent times.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong emphasized the great contribution of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations in actively encouraging people to enthusiastically participate in campaigns, contribute ideas to Party building, government building, effectively carry out social supervision and criticism, create social consensus, and strengthen the great national unity bloc.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province said that identifying the Party as a member of the Front, holding a leadership role, over the past time, the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee has always paid attention to the work of the Front, supported the Front's movements, and created favorable conditions for the Fatherland Front to complete its political tasks.

“As a member organization of the Front, the Provincial Party Committee always seriously implements the joint action program with the Front, issues many appropriate policies and regulations so that cadres and party members are responsible for implementing the Front's policies, staying close to the residential areas where they live, truly being exemplary in implementing community regulations, village conventions, and residential area conventions, effectively contributing to building a strong national solidarity bloc,” emphasized comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong.

At the conference, delegates discussed and frankly contributed their opinions on the following contents: Draft Outline of the Political Report of the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Submission on the draft Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (amended); Draft Report on the results of the Front's work in the first 6 months of 2018 and key tasks of the Front's work in the last 6 months of 2018.
