Opening of the 8th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee
On the morning of October 2, the 8th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee solemnly opened in Hanoi.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired and delivered the opening speech at the Conference.
Politburo member and President Vo Van Thuong chaired the opening session.
At the beginning of the Conference, the Central Committee observed a minute of silence in memory of Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh and the victims who died in natural disasters and fires.

At the Conference, the Party Central Committee, 13th tenure, will discuss and give concluding comments on the following issues: Socio-economic situation, State budget in 2023, plan for 2024; 3-year State financial and budget plan (2024 - 2026) and roadmap for implementing the new salary regime; summarizing 10 years of implementing Resolution 5 of the Central Committee (11th tenure) on a number of social policy issues for the period 2012 - 2020; summarizing 20 years of implementing Resolution 7 of the Central Committee (9th tenure) on promoting the strength of great national unity for a rich people, a strong country, a fair, democratic and civilized society; summarizing 15 years of implementing Resolution 7 of the Central Committee (10th tenure) on building a contingent of intellectuals in the period of promoting industrialization and modernization of the country; Summary of 10 years of implementing Resolution 8 of the Central Committee (11th tenure) on the Strategy for National Defense in the new situation; planning of the 14th Party Central Committee and a number of other important issues.

This Central Conference considers and decides on many important, complex, and sensitive issues of great significance to the completion of the political tasks of the 13th Central Executive Committee from now until the end of its term.
According to the program, the Conference will work until October 8.
