(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of July 1st, the Vinh City People's Council opened its 6th session of the 20th term, assessing the implementation of tasks in the first six months of the year and discussing solutions for the implementation of the plan for the last six months of 2013. Attending the session were city leaders, members of the City People's Council, and leaders of wards and communes.

In the first six months of the year, the city's socio-economic development showed significant progress. Economic growth was estimated at 7.8%, and total budget revenue reached 353.45 billion VND. Efforts were made in managing urban order and beautification, with strong emphasis on land clearance. The handling of citizen complaints and petitions was serious and timely.

However, economic growth and budget revenue have not met targets, investment attraction is progressing slowly, and there are still shortcomings in urban order management, environmental sanitation, land management, etc., that need to be addressed.

Also in the morning, the Council heard reports on the socio-economic situation in the first six months of the year from the City People's Committee, reports on budget revenue and expenditure, handling of petitions and complaints, and listened to opinions of voters submitted to the session through the collection of the Vinh City Fatherland Front Committee. In the afternoon of the same day, the City People's Council held discussions in groups. Tomorrow, July 2nd, the City People's Council will hold a question-and-answer session and pass resolutions of the session.
