(Baonghean.vn) -On the evening of February 19th, corresponding to the 20th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse, the opening ceremony of the Cờn Temple Festival and the launch of Hoang Mai tourism in 2014 was solemnly held in Quynh Phuong Ward, Hoang Mai Town. Attending the event were Mr. Ho Phuc Hop - Provincial Party Committee member, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department; representatives from various departments, agencies, the District Party Committee, the People's Committee of Hoang Mai, and thousands of local residents and tourists from all over.

The Cờn Temple Festival is one of the oldest festivals in Nghe An province. This event has practical significance in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values and the national principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," while also providing an opportunity for Hoang Mai to promote its tourism potential and the beauty and culture of its people to a wide audience. This year's festival is held over two days, January 20th and 21st (Lunar Calendar), with many attractive activities in both the ceremonial and festive parts. The ceremonial part includes the opening ceremony, the fishing prayer ceremony, the joint offering ceremony, and the thanksgiving ceremony. The festive part features boat races, stick pushing, volleyball, elephant processions, and horse processions. In addition, there is a competition for the best singing of the crested myna bird, and an art photography exhibition showcasing the people and nature of Hoang Mai town.
