Opening of the 20th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee

The 20th session of the Standing Committee of the 13th National Assembly opened on the morning of August 12th in Hanoi.

In his opening remarks at the session, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung stated that the 20th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee and subsequent sessions would focus on preparing the agenda for the 6th session of the 13th National Assembly.

At its 20th session, the National Assembly Standing Committee will dedicate a day to giving opinions on the draft amendments to the 1992 Constitution; discussing seven draft laws, including four draft laws that the National Assembly Standing Committee will continue to comment on after the National Assembly has already discussed them; and three draft laws for the first time.

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly will discuss and provide feedback on the Ordinance on Mobile Police and the Ordinance on Handling Administrative Violations of Acts Obstructing the Judicial Proceedings of People's Courts. The Decree on the Business of Betting on Horse Racing, Dog Racing, and International Football, and the Decree on Casino Business Operations will also be discussed at this session.

In fulfilling its oversight function, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will hear a report from the Supervisory Delegation on the implementation of policies and laws on quality assurance and the curriculum and textbooks for general education.

At the 20th session, the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment are expected to answer questions from the National Assembly Standing Committee on issues related to sectoral management. In addition to these topics, the National Assembly Standing Committee will also provide input on several other important matters.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Huynh Ngoc Son chaired the discussion on the draft Ordinance on Mobile Police./.
