(Baonghean.vn) - The exhibition was held in Anh Son district along with a series of events celebrating the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.

On the afternoon of July 26, in Anh Son district, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held the opening ceremony of the map exhibition and document display "Hoang Sa, Truong Sa of Vietnam - Historical and legal evidence".

Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Police Department, along with leaders of a number of departments, branches and leaders of Anh Son district.

The exhibition displays the Nguyen Dynasty's royal documents (from Gia Long to Bao Dai) issued directly related to the exploitation, management, establishment and enforcement of sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802 - 1945).

Versions of administrative documents issued by the Republic of Vietnam government in South Vietnam during the period 1954 - 1975 continued to affirm the process of administrative management, enforcement and protection of Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

In addition, a number of documents and publications compiled and published by Western countries from the 18th to the 19th century related to Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos are also displayed here.

Notable among these are the four atlases published by the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China Government from 1908 to 1933. These atlases all determined that China's southernmost border was always limited to Hainan Island without mentioning Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.

Speaking at the exhibition, comrade Le Ngoc Hoa emphasized that the exhibition of maps and documents about Hoang Sa and Truong Sa in Anh Son district has great significance as this is the resting place of more than 12,000 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Laos, were searched for, recovered, and buried by their comrades at the Vietnam - Laos International Cemetery; it is a testament to the solidarity in fighting and sacrificing for the common enemy, for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

The exhibition of maps and documents on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa is an important information and propaganda activity that contributes to raising awareness, solidarity and responsibility of the people in the country and overseas Vietnamese, and affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos through published historical documents.

Through the exhibition, it contributes to fostering patriotism, raising awareness and responsibility of cadres, soldiers and people towards the cause of national construction and protection. The exhibition will last until July 28./.
