Solemn opening of the 12th Conference of the Party Central Committee

This morning, May 11, the 12th Conference of the 12th Party Central Committee solemnly opened in Hanoi. General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong chaired the Conference. Politburo member and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the opening session.

At this conference, the Party Central Committee will discuss and decide on the following issues: Personnel work orientation of the 13th Party Central Committee; Election orientation of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term; Number and allocation of delegates to the 13th National Party Congress and a number of other important issues.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, on behalf of the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong stated that the conference took place at a time when the whole country was celebrating the 45th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification; the 130th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and especially in the context that the entire Party and people have been doing a good job in preventing and fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, contributing to arousing in the entire Party, people and army pride in the glorious Party, great Uncle Ho, and heroic Vietnamese people.

The General Secretary and President emphasized that, more than anyone else, each Central Committee member needs to promote the Party and nation's steadfast and glorious revolutionary tradition, further uphold the spirit of responsibility, and strive to fulfill the assigned responsibilities well; he requested Central Committee members to promote their intelligence and contribute many profound and accurate opinions to the approved contents, ensuring the success of the conference.
