On April 25th, police in Quang Tri province arrived in Quang Son and Quang Minh communes (Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province) to exhume and examine the bodies of five people who were beaten to death while searching for agarwood.
At the excavation site, authorities only allowed one relative of the victims and a representative of the local government to witness the event. Forty police officers from Quang Tri province, with support from the Quang Binh Provincial Police, were deployed to protect the excavation.

The excavation results revealed that the victims were beaten to death in an extremely brutal manner, with numerous wounds on their heads and faces. These details are consistent with the statements of the arrested suspects, Ho Van Cong, Ho Van Thanh, and Ho Van Nguyen.
Mr. Hoang Minh Thang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Quang Minh commune, said that it took the local authorities a whole month to persuade the relatives of the victims to agree to the excavation.
According to the Quang Tri Provincial Police, the results of the autopsy will be added to the case file to complete the procedures for bringing the perpetrator to trial.
