Exploiting advantages from Vinh - Vientiane highway

(Baonghean.vn) - Exploiting the potential advantages on both sides of the future Hanoi - Vientiane expressway, Vinh - Pacxan section, that is the main content of the discussion between the Nghe An Typical Business Association, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, Vietnam with the Lao National Young Entrepreneurs Association, Bolikhamxay Provincial Youth Union held on the morning of February 21.

The Hanoi - Vientiane expressway passing through Thanh Thuy border gate is expected to have 6 lanes, phase 1 will build 4 lanes, about 725 km long, ensuring vehicles can travel at 80-120 km/h.

The estimated investment for the section from Vientiane - Pacxan - Thanh Thuy - Vinh is 446 km long and over 5.2 billion USD. The route running through Laos alone is 381 km long and is estimated to cost about 4.48 billion USD. The section from Vinh to Hanoi has now completed the Hanoi - Ninh Binh expressway, and the Ninh Binh - Vinh section is expected to be completed in 2020.

The construction of the expressway connecting Vientiane - Pacxan - Thanh Thuy - Hanoi aims to soon realize the bilateral cooperation agreement and traffic connection agreement between the Politburo and the Government of Vietnam - Laos. Currently, the Ministry of Transport is surveying and looking for sources for implementation.

At the seminar, the two sides introduced the potential, assessed the benefits and strengths of each side when the project was completed, and said that when this route is connected, it will open up many prospects to promote socio-economic development not only of Vietnam - Laos but also of countries in the region. In particular, the Vinh - Pacxan section is a completely new route, so when the route is put into operation, it will connect the region and area; promote the potential and advantages of the two countries and provinces, helping to strengthen economic links, import and export, and transport of goods.

At the seminar, a number of experts and delegates who have lived and worked in Laos for many years commented that if the governments of the two countries invest in early construction, the Vientiane - Pacxan - Thanh Thuy - Hanoi route will certainly open up new advantages, minimizing costs for means of transport transporting goods from countries in the region such as Thailand, Myanmar, Laos to Vietnam and vice versa. At the same time, it will create a foundation for businesses interested in joint ventures, partnerships, and investments to exploit the potential and available advantages of forest land for business and production as well as contribute to ensuring security and defense of the two countries./.
