Khaisilk imports silk from insignificant Vietnamese craft villages.
'The amount of Khaisilk silk purchased in Nha Xa in recent years is insignificant' is shared by traditional silk weaving households in Nha Xa craft village.
Sharing with the media, Mr. Hoang Khai admitted that currently 50% of the silk source in the Khaisilk system is imported from China. The remaining 50% is imported from famous craft villages in Vietnam, mainly Nha Xa village (Ha Nam).
Regarding this issue, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters went to Nha Xa weaving village to record the incident. According to local people, Nha Xa craft village is famous for its traditional silk weaving. However, in recent years, there has not been as much sound of looms and shuttles as before, because many households have changed jobs.

The family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bich (54 years old) is one of the few households that still preserves the traditional silk weaving profession. Mrs. Bich said that Nha Xa silk has been 100% handmade since ancient times, and is ordered by famous designers and advertised at trade fairs and exhibitions.
Before the information that 50% of the silk in Khaisilk's system is imported from Nha Xa village, Ms. Bich was quite surprised. The woman with her hair in a high bun, her hands pulling newly dyed silk sheets to dry in the yard said: "Khaisilk does not import my products, the silk in Nha Xa village does not produce much, while the quantity of Khaisilk brand products is very large". She suspected that the figure of 50% imported from Nha Xa village was not true.
Ms. Bich shared that the price of an original silk scarf that her family sells in the domestic market is 100,000 VND, a thick silk scarf costs twice as much, and the export price is 54 dollars.
"There are not many traditional silk-making households. We know everyone who comes here to import goods."
Commenting on the Khaisilk brand selling silk scarves labeled both as Vietnamese and Chinese brands, Mr. Tuan - a silk worker - said that this act is an insult to those who work in the genuine silk industry.
Regarding the above incident, Mr. Nguyen Tien Quang, Chairman of Nha Xa Silk Production and Trading Association, said that the association does not manage all individual products, but the silk products are made by individuals in the village who find partners themselves.
“Previously, there were traders who resold silk to Mr. Hoang Khai, but only a small part. The amount of silk purchased by Khaisilk in Nha Xa was also insignificant. Mainly, locally produced silk was sold to markets in Saigon, Hoi An (Quang Nam), Ha Dong or exported abroad,” Mr. Quang said.
Regarding Mr. Hoang Khai's admission and bowing to apologize to customers for selling Chinese silk, Mr. Quang said that cutting the "Made in China" label and attaching the "Made in Vietnam" label at different prices for personal gain made the villagers angry.
“We hope the authorities will clarify this further to restore justice to the villagers because they work very hard and the profits they earn are very small,” Mr. Quang shared.
