Discover the super special 3-seat sedan Volvo S90L Excellence

Volvo S90L Excellence is expected to be available on the Chinese market early next year with a price of about 650,000 yuan, equivalent to 2.11 billion VND.

At the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show in Guangdong Province, China, Volvo officially introduced the new S90L luxury car. In fact, the Volvo S90L is the long-wheelbase version of the S90 luxury sedan.

Compared to the standard S90, the Volvo S90L has a wheelbase that is 120 mm longer, all of which is concentrated in the rear passenger compartment. Thanks to that, the Volvo S90L offers a more spacious interior than the standard S90. At the same time, with this wheelbase, the Volvo S90L can confidently compete with rivals such as the Audi A6L, BMW 5Li, Jaguar XFL and Mercedes-Benz E-Class L in the Chinese market.

In particular, the Volvo S90L has a detail that other competitors have to give up, which is the 3-seat interior. In the Chinese market, the Volvo S90L is divided into 3 versions: standard and Excellence. In which, the standard Volvo S90L is equipped with a regular bench seat in the back. The Volvo S90L Excellence only has 3 seats, 1 for the driver and 2 for the rear passengers.

On the Volvo S90L Excellence, the front passenger seat has been eliminated. Instead, there is a new concept that Volvo calls the "rear passenger console". This console includes a footrest for the passenger, a shoe compartment and a large tablet integrated into a metal frame.

Between the two single rear seats is a central armrest, integrated with a folding table with a computer keyboard, air conditioning control buttons and 2 crystal glasses. The compartment can warm or cool 2 glasses.

In addition, there is a small refrigerator between the two rear seats to keep beer cold. The entire interior is covered with the highest quality leather and luxurious wood paneling.

It seems Volvo wants its customers to be able to kick off their shoes, stretch their legs, play computer games and drink cold beer from a glass while sitting in the S90L Excellence. Rear passengers can also work on their computers, which are connected to the Internet and have all the necessary applications installed.

The passenger sitting in the left rear seat does not have the same amenities as the passenger sitting next to it.

However, Volvo seems to favor the right rear seat passenger. Therefore, the left rear seat passenger does not have a computer screen for entertainment or work. Instead, Volvo only provides a small footrest under the driver's seat for this passenger.

If you want to carry more than 3 people, the Volvo S90L Excellence is clearly not the ideal choice. The dashboard for the rear passengers of the Volvo S90L Excellence is fixed, and cannot be removed to install a front passenger seat. This can be quite inconvenient for many people. It can be said that the Volvo S90L Excellence is a special car but lacks practicality.

According to some sources, the S90L Excellence was developed at the special request of Mr. Li Shufu, Chairman of Volvo's parent company Geely. Rumors assert that Mr. Li wants the Volvo brand to produce more luxurious and high-end models, and the S90L Excellence is the first shot for this step.

The "heart" of the Volvo S90L in the Chinese market is a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a maximum capacity of 211 (T4) and 282 horsepower (T5). Meanwhile, the Volvo S90L Excellence only comes with the T8 plug-in hybrid drive system with a maximum capacity of 400 horsepower.

According to the plan, Volvo S90L will be produced at the factory located in Daqing city, Heilongjiang province, China. On December 15, the standard Volvo S90L will start to be sold on the Chinese market with prices ranging from 389,900 - 579,800 Yuan, equivalent to 1.27 - 1.88 billion VND.

Meanwhile, the Volvo S90L Excellence will be available on the Chinese market early next year with a price of about 650,000 yuan, equivalent to 2.11 billion VND. By the second half of next year, the Volvo S90L will be exported from China to the US and Europe.
