Urgently search for missing people; approach and rescue isolated areas

On the morning of August 4, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control held a meeting to direct the response and recovery work after storm No. 3.
At the meeting, after listening to reports from ministries and branches on the situation of direction and assessment of hydrometeorological forecasting, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong - Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control highly appreciated the drastic implementation of the forces in responding to storm No. 3.
Regarding the consequences in Quan Son and Muong Lat districts, Thanh Hoa province, the Minister directed to send an additional working delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep to directly coordinate and support Thanh Hoa province.
Prioritizing the tasks: Focus on overcoming and ensuring smooth communication; focus on relief work and providing food, drinking water, and electricity for people in isolated villages; urgently search for missing people, access support, and provide relief to isolated and cut-off areas in Thanh Hoa; establish and maintain communication in localities, especially remote, isolated areas.
The Minister requested to check and prepare plans to ensure the safety of dykes and dams, especially those under construction; deploy plans to prevent flooding in urban areas; and review areas at high risk of flash floods and landslides.
Prepare response plans for heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides; organize guards at spillways and roads prone to flooding and disruption; prepare forces and equipment to handle incidents on landslide-affected roads.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting continues to strengthen forecasting of flood developments and provide timely warning information.
Closely monitor developments on Hoa Binh Lake, lakes under construction, and floods on some rivers and streams; prepare plans to ensure the safety of dams, dykes, especially small reservoirs, key works, those with incidents, and those under construction.
Prepare response plans for heavy rain, flash floods, landslides, especially in high-risk areas and roads that are frequently flooded and eroded. Organize warning signs, patrols, and guard at overflow culverts and roads that are prone to flooding and isolation.
The Minister requested that press agencies and media agencies strengthen warning work in areas at risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous provinces.
The Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control closely monitors the developments of floods and rains; and sends a working group to handle the West sea dike in Ca Mau.
It is known that the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response and Search and Rescue, Ministry of National Defense directed Military Region 4 and forces stationed in the area to deploy 807 officers, soldiers and 27 vehicles to support search and rescue work for those who are still missing and to help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters, especially in Thanh Hoa province./.
