Khanh Ngan: 'Winning Miss Globe is like a dream to me'

The 23-year-old beauty could not believe it when she was announced as the winner of the beauty contest. She only participated with the mindset of trying her luck.

- How do you feel after being crowned Miss Globe 2017?

-When I first heard the title announced, I couldn't believe it was true, it felt like a dream.When I first decided to compete, I just thought of it as a competition to gain more experience and learn before participating in the Miss Tourism 2018 contest.After calming down, I was extremely happy and joyful. I was proud of myself for making a breakthrough and hearing the two words "Vietnam" resounding proudly in a foreign land on the final night.

- Before that, your team had visa problems when preparing to go to Albania to support you. How did this affect your mentality?

- Every morning when I wake up, I'm always worried about how things will turn out, whether everyone will make it before the final night to support me because I still lack my evening gown and need to prepare a few more things.

But then I told myself that it was no big deal if I thought about everything in a simple way. I reassured myself with the thought: "If I don't have time to prepare everything, the crew can't get a visa, I will still try my best to shine in my own way, I will take advantage of everything I have, the most important thing is still my demeanor and mentality. A beauty queen is not only recognized by a beautiful outfit, beautiful makeup but also by being confident and always shining in the right way."

- When participating in the contest, what difficulties did you encounter?

- The climate in Albania is quite cold, which makes my health not very good. I also get used to the new hours and do my own makeup. In general, I have to prepare and face all difficulties alone.Without relatives around, sometimes I feel tired.

Even though I try to take care of myself, I still get fevers sometimes. Lack of sleep also makes me more susceptible to illness. At times like this, I try to overcome them by drinking lots of fruit juice to increase my resistance, and dressing carefully to keep my body warm. I also get used to the food and drinks in Albania to always provide myself with enough nutrients and avoid exhaustion.Besides, I also try to talk more with new friends - candidates from other countries - to find sharing. Whenever I have free time, I also try to contact my family and friends in Vietnam.

- What do you think convinced the judges to win the crown?

- I think that throughout the process of accompanying the candidates, they will be easily convinced by a girl who is active, confident in daily communication, knows how to express herself at the right time, shows responsibility for herself and those around her, has a stable demeanor, is knowledgeable and has a loving heart.

Actually, I still have certain shortcomings. I am a worrier. If I could do it again, I would like to share more with people around me, love more and not spend time thinking about negative things.

Miss Tourism Vietnam 2016 surprised everyone when she was crowned Miss Globe 2017 in Albania.

- The contest is considered to be small in scale, the final night is heavy on performance, with little room for contestants to show their personality and knowledge. What do you say about this opinion?

- I think we shouldn't judge the scale of the competition just by looking at the final night. A person's personality or knowledge cannot be fully revealed in a day or two. Contestants also cannot help the audience see their full personality and intelligence in a few hours of the final competition.

I am always grateful to the Miss Globe 2017 organizers for their efforts in organizing the contest professionally, helping the contestants always feel comfortable as well as loved and compete fairly with each other.

- What good memories do you have with the contestants and the competition?

- The most memorable memory for me ison the final days of the competition, when the contestants had to practice on stage at the Tirana stadium until late at night. The temperature there at night was very cold, always below 5 degrees Celsius. The girls were tired and shivering. We hugged each other, sharing the scarves around our necks to transmit warmth. At that time, no difference in beauty, appearance, skin color... could create a distance between us.

To me, each friend from Malaysia, China, Thailand, Nigeria... has their own charm in terms of personality and beauty. They all have one thing in common: they are cheerful, sociable, rarely try to tease or put down their opponents in the competition, but always compete healthily.

All contestants try to express themselves as best as they can, whether it is when eating, chatting, or socializing. The girls are all aware of how important it is to create a unique personal identity in the competition. They also always acknowledge their opponents’ efforts so that they can learn from them and find ways to perform better, both on stage and in the activities organized by the organizers.

- What are your plans after being crowned?

- For now, I will fulfill my responsibilities as Miss Globe after being crowned, for example next year.visit the city hall in the capital Tirana, Albania,meet with the mayor and local leaders,participated in some local TV shows as a guest... I also had to comply with the commitment to the organizing committee that I could not participate in any international beauty contests for a year as well as fulfill other obligations.
