(Baonghean.vn) - On May 15, 2014, the Nghe An Provincial Friendship General Hospital, with a capacity of 700 beds, officially commenced operations, marking a new stage of development for the province's healthcare sector.

Attending the ceremony were: Phan Dinh Trac, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission; Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Health; leaders of departments and bureaus under the Ministry of Health; Major General Nguyen Sy Hoi, Deputy Commander of Military Region 4; and Nguyen Thien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province. Representing Nghe An province were: Ho Duc Phoc, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Tran Hong Chau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial departments and agencies; leaders of districts and cities in the province; former and current hospital officials and leaders; and the people of Vinh City.

Nghe An Friendship Multi-Specialty Hospital, formerly Vinh Hospital, has a history of over 100 years of development. Throughout different historical periods, located in various localities, it has played a crucial role in the healthcare of the people, serving as the leading hospital in Nghe An province.

The cultural performances were presented by the hospital's staff, doctors, and nurses.

Faced with the severe overcrowding and deterioration of the old hospital, in 2003, the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and relevant departments and agencies established a project to build the Nghe An General Hospital with a capacity of 700 beds. The project was approved in 2004. In 2006, the project's construction items officially began. By 2014, the hospital was officially completed and put into operation in May, celebrating President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.

This is a first-class provincial-level hospital with a capacity of 700 beds and modern equipment. Upon completion, the hospital will have 47 departments and wards, with a total investment of 1,191 billion VND. It will meet the healthcare needs of people in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, as well as neighboring Laos, and significantly contribute to reducing the burden on central-level hospitals.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the 700-bed Friendship Multi-specialty Hospital, Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Tien affirmed that the inauguration of phase 1 of the hospital is of paramount importance, helping people in Nghe An, as well as the North Central provinces and neighboring Laos, access high-quality medical techniques, contributing to reducing the burden on central-level hospitals. In the coming time, the Nghe An health sector needs to continue to promote the training of medical personnel, develop the grassroots health network, and promote socialized healthcare options. Improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, enhancing medical ethics, and linking this with studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh are also crucial. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, stated that, given its characteristics as a large province with a large population and its position as the center of North Central Vietnam, Nghe An has achieved many successes in developing its healthcare sector in recent years. The opening of Phase 1 of the Nghe An Friendship Multi-Specialty Hospital not only meets the needs of people within and outside the province, as well as neighboring Laos, but also helps the Nghe An healthcare sector build and develop its healthcare system in a comprehensive manner, gradually modernizing it and forming a high-quality healthcare center for the region, as outlined in Resolution 26 of the Politburo.
