Inauguration of the renovated Le Dynasty Canal Memorial Monument.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 12th, in Nghi Yen commune, Nghi Loc district, the Department of Transport organized the inauguration ceremony for the renovated Le Dynasty Canal Memorial Monument.

Comrade Nguyen Hong Ky - Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Nghe An Department of Transport, delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony.

The Le Dynasty Canal, built in 983, was a vital waterway system serving the transportation of military supplies and economic development, connecting Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh provinces during the resistance war. In keeping with the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," and to honor the immense contributions of King Le and the heroic martyrs who sacrificed themselves fighting foreign invaders, on December 11, 2014, the Nghe An Department of Transportation undertook the renovation of the Le Dynasty Canal memorial in Nghi Yen commune, Nghi Loc district. The project included: constructing a 9-meter-high, 3x3-meter reinforced concrete memorial clad in granite; renovating the eastern side and adding two reinforced concrete bas-reliefs to the western side.

The delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the project.

The project has a total investment of 1.9 billion VND from socialized funding. Upon completion, the project will serve the cultural and sightseeing needs of the people and will also be a place for educating about patriotic traditions and instilling national pride in the younger generation.
