Khanh Van wears LGBT inspired dress
Khanh Van wore a dress inspired by the LGBT flag during a practice session before the Miss Universe finals on the evening of May 15 (Vietnam time).
Khanh Van's outfit for the 10th day at Miss Universe was designed by Tang Thanh Cong. The purple dress has a tight fit, with cut-outs on both sides to accentuate her curves and long legs. The highlight of the outfit is the giant, floor-length bow with a green flag pattern. She paired it with a mask designed to match the bow.
Purple - a mix of pink (representing female) and blue (representing male) - has long been a symbol of LGBT, associated with the history of the struggle of this community since the late 19th century. Meanwhile, the six-color rainbow has been chosen as the flag color of homosexuals, transgender people... since 1979 until now. Khanh Van wants to send a message of support to people in this community through her outfit.
