The desire to spread knowledge of a female student who is the Nghe An Reading Culture Ambassador in 2023
(Baonghean.vn) - Ha Thi Hien Anh is the first prize winner of the Nghe An Reading Culture Ambassador contest in 2023. This petite and pretty female student is nurturing the desire and making efforts to carry out the mission of spreading reading culture in the community.
From childhood passion
Ha Thi Hien Anh (born in 2007) is currently a student in class 11D2, Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Vinh City). Since childhood, Hien Anh has been passionate about story books, spending a lot of time with friends and books. Her grandfather has a large bookshelf with hundreds of books of all genres, Hien Anh often visits his house to read interesting stories, especially fairy tales.

Realizing his granddaughter’s passion for books, Hien Anh’s grandfather often looked for good books to add to the bookshelf, including many books about Uncle Ho and literature books. The passion was always nurtured and grew over the years, becoming a habit and daily joy for the little girl.
The pages of books have helped Hien Anh expand her knowledge, understand new things in life and have the vibrations and emotions of a child. That also helps her have a pure soul, full of love, and live in harmony with friends and people around her.
Hien Anh shared: “For me, books are great friends on the journey of discovering human knowledge. When I have free time, I often spend it on books. When I read books, I am really happy and receive many new and interesting things.”

Hien Anh knew about the Reading Culture Ambassador contest a few years ago. She is very passionate about books but because of her shy nature, she did not dare to participate. This year, thanks to the encouragement of her grandfather, parents and teachers, Hien Anh was really confident and decided to participate in the contest.
At the 2023 Reading Culture Ambassador contest, Ha Thi Hien Anh introduced the book “I study by myself” by author Nguyen Duy Can. According to the female student of Huynh Thuc Khang School, “I study by myself” is a book that guides us on how to create self-worth through self-study methods.
In life or in the learning process, many people try to study every day with the sole purpose of achieving success. With “I study by myself”, Nguyen Duy Can shows readers the true purpose of studying is not based on the value of making money but to know oneself, expand one’s knowledge and learn how to behave.

A book that is not too thick, but helps us change our thinking about self-study and urges readers to constantly improve their abilities no matter what age they are. Through that, the author makes us understand and truly appreciate that "Culture is something that cannot be transmitted nor summarized".
“When I joined this contest, I was really worried and wondered what I should do, how to develop a reading culture, how to help young people understand the importance of reading culture, so that they can love reading and make reading a daily habit for everyone,” Hien Anh said.
To the plan to develop a reading culture
When winning the first prize in the high school competition and becoming the Reading Culture Ambassador, Hien Anh developed a plan to develop a reading culture from family to community to carry out the mission of spreading the love for books. She hopes that every family in Vietnam, whether in urban or rural areas, lowland or highland, will have a family bookshelf.

The presence of a bookshelf and a reading culture in the family will help improve the communication environment, creating a strong and deep connection in the family. Building a reading culture in the family and clan will create a cultural environment that has a comprehensive, long-term and continuous impact on all members; helping generations in the family and clan to connect more closely with each other - which is also very necessary in this modern society.
Hien Anh’s next goal is to build bookcases for neighborhoods and villages from the city to the plains or highlands. Even in the small alleys of the villages so that children and ethnic minorities can have books to read. With this idea, Hien Anh will conduct both book donations and sponsorship.

The target audience is school-age children, so it is very important to receive support in the form of usable textbooks, reference books, stories and learning tools to help them have more books to go to school. In addition, depending on each area and the reading needs of the people, additional books on culture, economics, agriculture... such as learning how to get rich or planting techniques...
Reading books has helped me discover myself, aim for noble values in life, contribute to enriching my soul, nurturing and lighting up my dreams and ambitions. Thanks to participating in this contest, good ideas for the community have blossomed and grown in me and I want to turn them into actions. I hope everyone will join hands with me to turn my dreams into reality.
