Rewarding 37 collectives and individuals with achievements for the advancement of women

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 3, the Committee for the Advancement of Women of Nghe An province organized the implementation of gender equality work and activities for the advancement of women in 2017.

Implementing the National Action Program on Gender Equality for the period 2016-2020, in 2016, the Committee for the Advancement of Women of Nghe An province set out 7 goals and 24 specific targets. Accordingly, all levels, sectors and localities have actively implemented and achieved and exceeded 15/24 targets. In particular, some targets achieved high results such as: Rate of participation in Party committees; rate of female National Assembly deputies; rate of female key officials in departments, sectors and localities.

Reality shows that the role and status of women are increasingly enhanced in all areas of life, from politics to economics, work and study... However, women in poor rural areas and ethnic minorities still have to endure many hardships and disadvantages; abuse and domestic violence are still complicated; the situation of buying and selling women and girls in rural and mountainous areas still exists with 10 cases and 21 subjects discovered and prosecuted in 2016.

In order to promote the achieved results, overcome limitations and continue to effectively carry out the work for the advancement of women, at the conference, delegates focused on evaluating and discussing ways to implement 7 key tasks set out in 2017, such as: Strengthening the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels for activities for the advancement of women and gender equality work; continuing to implement the National Strategy and Program on Gender Equality for the period 2016-2020...

The Provincial People's Committee has issued a Decision to consolidate the Committee for the Advancement of Women with 26 members. On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee and the Committee for the Advancement of Women have awarded 37 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in activities for the advancement of women in 2016./.
