When priests 'eat at the same table and ride in the same car' with reactionaries

On May 15, 2017, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Provincial Police arrested Hoang Duc Binh (born February 10, 1983, in Hung Trung commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province) for the crime of "Resisting a person on official duty; taking advantage of democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and citizens", as prescribed in Articles 257 and 258 of the Penal Code, to investigate and handle according to the law.

The organization of the execution of the arrest warrant for Hoang Duc Binh was in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code, with the participation of representatives of the People's Procuracy of Nghe An province and the witness of relevant people.

Immediately after the authorities temporarily detained Hoang Duc Binh, priest Nguyen Dinh Thuc, who was present at the scene, called and incited a number of extremists to obstruct traffic on National Highway 1A through Dien An commune, Dien Chau district, demanding the "release of the arrested person".

During the period from about 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM on May 15, 2017, Nguyen Dinh Thuc continuously used his phone and loudspeaker to call and incite extremists to gather on National Highway 1A, then marched to the Dien Chau District Police Headquarters to demand the release of Hoang Duc Binh. The extremists, following Nguyen Dinh Thuc's incitement, stood in the middle of the road and used objects such as trees, bricks, stones, etc. to block vehicles traveling on National Highway 1A, causing congestion, obstructing traffic, and disturbing security and order in the area. After learning about and understanding the incident, a number of priests went to the scene, coordinated with the authorities to propagate and mobilize people to leave.

The actions of Nguyen Dinh Thuc and some extremists caused public disorder, obstructed traffic, and violated the law.

When the news of Hoang Duc Binh being temporarily detained by the investigation agency at 10:30 on May 15th was announced, it was a “hot” news to many people. However, for those who know Hoang Duc Binh’s whereabouts and activities, the fact that he was arrested by law enforcement agencies was a matter of course, a “what goes around comes around”.

However, what surprised and disbelieved many people was that Hoang Duc Binh was arrested while sitting in the same black Fortune car with priest Nguyen Dinh Thuc. Also riding in that car - the car often used by Nguyen Dinh Thuc - was Emily, a member of the reactionary organization Viet Tan.

Why do many people feel surprised and find it hard to believe? That is because, in the minds of people from ancient times to the present, according to the Catholic faith, priests are the ones who replace God. The image of a priest that people often think of is the image of friendliness, charity, humanity, bringing good and bright things. And in reality, many priests are very virtuous, guiding Catholics to have a life of respecting God and loving the country, living a good life and a good religion, passing on and preserving the solidarity and harmony of religions forever. But priest Nguyen Dinh Thuc did not have the images mentioned above, but was completely opposite.

Recently, Nguyen Dinh Thuc often appeared with characters from reactionary organizations, of which Hoang Duc Binh was one. Everyone was surprised and could not believe that the person with the mission of shepherding the flock would connect with people who were always arrogant and brazen on the virtual keyboard, but in real life were just bad guys, specialized in fraud, deception, and false prestige.

These elements have been in the process of connecting and colluding with each other to create many "scripts" to make money from a group of overseas people who lack information, lack goodwill, and are mistaken. Sadly, some gullible people and even extremists have become blind "actors" for these "black scripts", being turned into money-making tools for "director" Nguyen Dinh Thuc and reactionary elements through illegal acts.

Do those who listen to Nguyen Dinh Thuc's incitement know that those illegal actions may very well face severe punishment by law? Or are they unable to overcome their fear and so blindly follow the bad "script" and take on the tragedy for themselves?

It is strange that the custodian of Catholic morality is in cahoots with these rabble who live a parasitic life by exploiting hatred to the fullest, spreading incitement and riots to create space for some bad guys to spend money.

Humanity has concluded that “when in a gourd, you are round, when in a tube, you are long”, “when with Buddha, wear a monk’s robe, when with ghosts, wear a paper robe”, or “tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are”. These famous sayings, along with the people who were on the same bus and ate at the same table with Nguyen Dinh Thuc, help us explain why, despite having the title of priest, Nguyen Dinh Thuc often appeared at places where he gathered to cause trouble with defiant, arrogant expressions, and strange, arrogant, and insolent ways of speaking.

That helps us explain more clearly why the Catholic church where Nguyen Dinh Thuc was the parish priest, which should have been a sacred place for practicing religion, became a place to welcome elements that go against justice and national morality; became a place for them to set up a "base" to spread false, extreme, and erroneous information, incite hatred and sow sin.

Of course, there have been and are many questions, that Hoang Duc Binh and Nguyen Dinh Thuc "ate at the same table, rode in the same car", so Hoang Duc Binh has been arrested, when will Nguyen Dinh Thuc be arrested?
