When should I take in air and outside air in my car?
The two modes of taking in fresh air and fresh air on the car's air conditioning system have very different effects, not only affecting air quality, ensuring health but also helping the car save more fuel.
Most current car models are equipped with 2 modes of internal air intake and external air intake, usually displayed by a button or lever on the car's dashboard control panel. Many new drivers, even long-time drivers, do not pay attention or do not understand the meaning, the difference and when to choose internal air intake mode and when to use external air.

Difference between two air intake modes
As the name suggests, take outside airis the air conditioning system mode, the fan will draw air from the outside environment into the car. This air will pass through the air filter, then into the air conditioner's condenser before being brought in to maintain the temperature in the car cabin.
The advantage of this air intake mode is that the air in the car is always changed, rich in oxygen, helping people in the car stay awake, less carsick. However, this mode also has a disadvantage that if the outside air source is not clean, the car will have a very bad smell. In the summer, when the air temperature is very high, taking in outside air will put pressure on the car's air conditioning system.
In contrast, in modetake in the air, the air conditioning system will use the air source inside the cabin, run through the air conditioning filter and return to the air vents. In other words, this air will be "reused" continuously inside the car.
This mode is often used by drivers because it has the advantage of avoiding polluted air and unpleasant odors from being sucked into the cabin. In addition, this mode also has the ability to cool faster, helping to save fuel significantly, especially in the summer. However, if the air is taken in for too long, the amount of oxygen in the cabin will decrease, making people in the car susceptible to motion sickness and difficulty breathing.

When should I take in air and when should I take in air?
According to experienced drivers, depending on the conditions of use and the outside environment, these two modes can be used flexibly, specifically as follows:
- Take outside air:Should be used immediately when starting the car to get fresh air from the outside. Suitable when driving at quite high speed, carrying many people, traveling long distances outside the city and places with fresh, cool air.
- Get fresh air:Suitable for all speed ranges, especially in the city. Should be used in high temperature conditions (summer), poor outside environment quality (pollution, dust, odor,...) and when driving in the rain to avoid moisture absorption into the cabin and windshield.
In many new car models, there is an automatic air conditioning mode, in which the car's sensor system will automatically calculate and provide the appropriate air intake mode.
However, experts also advise users to proactively combine both modes to achieve optimal efficiency. At the same time, car owners should maintain the air conditioning system, change the air filter periodically and clean the interior compartment and air vents to always have clean air in the cockpit.
