When should you use the steering wheel paddle shifters?

Most automatic cars today have a manual mode, which allows you to change gears at will rather than waiting for the transmission to engage. Depending on the model, drivers can change gears manually using the gear stick and/or the paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

This action does not require a clutch, because there is no mechanical connection between the gear lever or the paddle shifters. They simply act as a switch to send an electronic signal to the transmission to change gears.

If you want to return to full self-driving mode, simply push the gearshift back into D. Regardless of which mode you choose, the car's computer program will not let the car stop. The car also has an engine rev limiter to prevent damage to the engine.
