The spirit of Phu Long land
(Baonghean.vn) - Located on the banks of Lam River, Long Xa commune (Hung Nguyen) is a rural area rich in patriotic and revolutionary traditions, considered one of the "red seed nurseries".
Glorious tradition
According to historical documents, in the past, Phu Long and Phu Xa villages had a common name of Phu Long, belonging to Phu Long commune (Hung Nguyen district). After many name changes, after the August Revolution of 1945, they were divided into two communes, Hung Long and Hung Xa. By 2019, the two communes were merged into Long Xa. Whether separated or merged, they still have a common historical source and business and living conditions.

About Long Xa, we want to meet the eldersrevolutionary veteranbut most of them have returned to the "world of the wise". Fortunately, those who came after were able to collect and record them as a source of information for posterity. According to historical sources of the two old communes of Hung Long and Hung Xa (now Long Xa commune), the land of Phu Long in the past was the place where the seeds of the patriotic movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries were "incubated".
Right from the timeFrench colonialistsWhen they invaded Vietnam, many children of Phu Long commune participated in the Van Than and Can Vuong movements to fight against the enemy. During the Dong Du and Duy Tan movements, many people from this hometown also responded, going to Thailand with Dang Thuc Hua to build Trai Cay. This was also the meeting and contact point of predecessors such as Pham Hong Thai, Le Hong Phong, Le Thiet Hung... before going abroad to do revolutionary activities.

It can be said that Phu Long was a fertile land for the revolutionary movement to sprout early. Around April 1930, the Central Region Party Committee sent comrade Ton Gia Vinh to contact Le Xuan Dao - aparty membersTan Viet in Phu Xa village to establish the Communist Party cell. From then on, the revolutionary movement under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam deepened, took root and developed in the countryside along the Lam River.
During the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement, the people of Phu Long rose up strongly, on September 12, 1930, thousands of people participated in the demonstration in Thai Lao. Bombed by the French colonialists, 217 people were killed, 31 in Phu Xa village alone. During the August Autumn General Uprising, on August 19, 1945, under the leadership of the Viet Minh Front, people from villages and hamlets flocked to the gathering point, red flags with yellow stars fluttering. The demonstration group of Phu Long commune joined the crowd from the communes under Hung Nguyen prefecture, marched to occupy the government office, forcing District Chief Nguyen Tien Don to surrender unconditionally.
Continuing the new autumn life
In the golden autumn sunshine today, we returned to Long Xa village. The prosperous village has spacious houses, the roads are paved with asphalt and concrete. The golden summer-autumn rice fields promise a bountiful harvest. On the alluvial plains along the river, herds of buffalo and cows leisurely graze, adding to the peacefulness of a prosperous countryside. In the riverside area, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh’s cow farm (Thanh Son hamlet) has an area of 3 hectares, currently has more than 40 cows, barns and a well-planned grass growing area. Just a few years ago, this was a barren land, which Mr. Thanh’s family bid to raise cows for fattening and breeding.
It is now the third year and 85% of the loan and construction costs have been repaid. “If all goes well, the family will recover the capital in the next few years and start to have an income. Doingfarm"Although it is hard and difficult, in return there is a stable source of income, exploiting the land potential of my hometown" - Mr. Thanh shared.

Leaving the alluvial area, we went to Thanh Son hamlet, stopping by Mr. Hoang Minh Khanh's handicraft production facility. In the middle of the epidemic season, the source of raw materials as well as product output is facing difficulties, so Mr. Khanh only organizes work in groups of 2-3 people. Normally, he employs 10 workers regularly with an income of 7-10 million VND.
Looking at the product designs that are filled in the workshop, we can somewhat know the scale and consumption market and imagine the direction of a young man in Phu Long. Not far away is the packaging sewing workshop of Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Dai Tho hamlet) with 20 workers working regularly with a stable income. The two men named Khanh have opened up new directions to take advantage of raw materials and human resources, together enriching their homeland...

Long Xa commune is currently divided into 8 hamlets with more than 9,300 people, the main source of income of the people is still from farming and raising livestock. Along with that are some jobstraditionalsuch as making vermicelli and cakes (recognized as a craft village), carpentry, rattan - bamboo - weaving, and recently many households doing mechanical work, processing forest products, and providing services... In the first 6 months of 2021, despite facing many difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the total production value of Long Xa commune still reached more than 214 billion VND (reaching more than 62% of the yearly plan).
As a rural area rich in cultural traditions, Long Xa commune always pays attention to promoting learning and talent. In the 2020-2021 school year, the whole commune has a total of 1,989 students at all levels, of which 106 students achieved the title of excellent students at all levels. Facilities, equipment, and basic teaching aids are fully equipped, and all schools maintain their titles.National standards.
